General information
法鼓文理學院著重於學生之人文涵養與品格教育，透過具體的活動與體驗，以培育胸懷世界的英才。故以學院與書苑建構全體學生學習的兩大基礎。 在書苑規劃理念上，借鑑於歐美著名大學的書院制度與精神，揉合教學和起居生活於同一地方，提供學業輔導和思想交流的環境，同時也是舉辦各類社交及文化活動的組織。採用「苑」而非「院」的主要原因是根據文獻解釋，「院」是指有堅實圍牆的範圍，「苑」則雖有範圍但無堅實的圍牆，且「苑」有比較大的範圍。法鼓文理學院是一個人文薈萃的國際教育村，尊崇學術自由與重視個人發展，不會為固定的藩籬所侷限，以「書苑」來代替傳統的「書院」，彰顯法鼓文理學院的格局與胸襟。 書苑為本校教育重要的一環─一個具有高度國際化與社會資源整合的生活與學習結合場域。
